6 Ways Preventing Your Body To Get Too Cold On The Bike

6 ways preventing your body to get too cold on the bike

No one likes getting cold when going for a ride, while cycling in the winter can be a beautifull thing to do. But that low temperature carries some disadvantages with it, like muscles getting cold or even worse, getting sick for a couple of days. You probably want to prevent that from happening, because it can lead to you not being able to cycle for a couple of days. I’m gonna give you six tips to keep you warm on your bike.

Tip 1: layers

Firstly, you want to have plenty of layers to keep you warm, but also to regulate your body temperature. The place you want to focus on is your core, because that translates to the rest of your body. Our bodies want to layer up the core the most, so having a layer less on your not-core areas is not such a bad thing. A good base layer underneath your other layers is also important, because it could ensure your sweat getting your body cold. And you don’t want that.

Tip 2: too much layers

Beside having enough layers, you don’t want to overlayer yourself. What I mean by that is having too many or very thick layers. Like wearing a couple of layers and a sweater could fix you up with a lot of sweat. And with low temperature our bodies don’t react quite good on sweat. You also won’t very much because of the weather, so your body will get dehydraded.

Tip 3: hands and feed

One of the main problems when riding in the winter is getting cold hands and cold feed. If you’ll have a nice ride depend on that. Well, multiple layers over one another isn’t the best solution, it’s even worse than not doing it, because it restrics the blood flow. Instead of doubling up on layers you want to get gloves and overshoes. Your blood will flow perfectly.

Tip 4: route

Fourth tip has to do with picking a suited route. When you’re in a mountain area or going to approach a mountain you want to have an extra layer on you. In winter you want to find the routes with very much sun, because when riding in shadows it will be a very cold ride.

Tip 5: bad weather

Wind, rain and cold. It’s the formation you want to miss out on, because sometimes you don’t even see it coming and then you’re probably too late. First tip for that situation is using waterproof on your clothes. Mudguards will protect you from getting even colder. That’s because the water will get on your back or between your legs, or even on the person following you.

Tip 6: coffeestop

Another tip I think you’ll like is having a coffeestop. It gives your body the opportunity to gather more energy together and to warm up again. A cup of hot choclate or a piece of cake containing enough calorie scan do wonders when you’re feeling cold. You don’t want to end up with a table outside, so make sure you’re getting a place inside!

These were six quick tips that will hopefully help you enjoy your winter rides at a higher level
